Current CACP Students

For current students with a declared major in Architecture, Interior Design, or Urban and Regional Planning, complete scholarship application packages are due by email to Nicole Chavez, Communications & Development Coordinator in the CACP Office of the Dean, before 5 p.m. on February 15, 2017. Pre-Architecture and Pre-Interior Design majors are not eligible to receive CACP Scholarships. Incomplete applications or incomplete application packages will not be considered. Application packages must be submitted by email to nicole.chavez@utsa.edu .

For current students with a declared major in Construction Science and Management, scholarship applications are due by email to Marcella Guerrero, Senior Administrative Associate in the Department of Construction Science, before 5 p.m. on March 6, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be considered. CSM majors will receive an email reminder with instructions when the CSM Scholarship Application is available. 2017-18 Construction Science and Management Scholarship Application Form

 

General information for all CACP scholarship applicants

Applicants will be considered for all available scholarships for which the student is eligible. Students do not apply for individual scholarships but, for informational purposes, the list of all available scholarships for current students can be found below, along with the criteria for each.

The dollar amounts of each scholarship are subject to change. Scholarships are non-renewable; they must be applied for each academic year.

As a condition of receiving a scholarship, recipients will be required to attend the CACP Scholarship and Awards Banquet, which will take place in the fall 2017 semester. In addition, recipients will be required to submit “Thank you” letters, a signed Acceptance Form, a Biographical Information Form, and a Career & Goals Statement. The specific date and time of the banquet will be announced at a later date. Contact the Office of the Dean for more information.

 

Instructions for Architecture and Interior Design students

Architecture and Interior Design application packages must include the following components:

(1) 2017-18 CACP Scholarship Application form
(2) Positions: Write a 300-500 word essay that describes your position on key issues in architecture and/or design. Applicant should be able to view himself/herself within established discourses in the discipline; identify architectural or design problems; and define a position based on this context.
(3) Faculty Recommendation Form (one) from a faculty member in the CACP
(4) Discipline-specific component:

a)  Architecture and Interior Design students (B.S. Arch, B.S. IDE, M.Arch 2 and M.Arch 3) are required to submit a Digital Portfolio Sample. This is defined as a sample of recent design work (i.e. studio project presentations) and cannot be more than two pages of content (8.5 x 11). Bear in mind that the work shown should be representative of your best work and demonstrate the depth of your skills. The digital portfolio sample should be emailed to nicole.chavez@utsa.edu along with the rest of the required components in the application package.

b)  M.S. Arch students are required to submit a Writing Sample that illuminates an architectural issue. Appropriate writing samples include clearly structured research papers, professional reports, book reviews, and analytical essays. The writing sample must be accompanied by a one paragraph (maximum) summary for it to be considered. It should be emailed to nicole.chavez@utsa.edu along with the rest of the required components in the application package.

M.S. Arch students are not required to submit Digital Portfolio Samples in their application packages. B.S. Arch, B.S. IDE, M.Arch 2 and M.Arch 3 students are not required to submit Writing Samples in their application packages.

Most scholarships require students to be enrolled full-time. To be considered full-time, undergraduate students must be enrolled in 12 credit hours per semester and graduate students must be enrolled in 9 credit hours per semester.

 

Instructions for Construction Science and Management students

Construction Science and Management students must submit:

(1) Construction Science and Management Scholarship Application Form: CSM majors will receive an email reminder with instructions when the application is available. Scholarship applications are due by email to marcella.guerrero@utsa.edu before 5 p.m. on March 6, 2017.

CSM students are not required to submit positions essays, faculty recommendation forms, portfolios, or writing samples.

To receive scholarships, CSM students must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours per semester.

 

Instructions for Urban & Regional Planning students

Urban & Regional Planning application packages must include the following components:

(1) 2016-17 CACP Scholarship Application Form
(2) Positions: Write a 300-500 word statement that describes your position on key issues in urban and regional planning.   • Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level (juniors and seniors only)
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

 

AIA San Antonio Component Scholarship

  • Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level (juniors and seniors only)
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

 

AIA San Antonio Latinos in Architecture Annual Scholarship

  • Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Preference will be given to undergraduate transfer students from San Antonio College

 

Bill and Diane Hays Endowed Scholarship in Architecture and Interior Design

  • Declared major in Interior Design or Architecture at the undergraduate level
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

 

CACP Annual Scholarship

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student in the UTSA College of Architecture, Construction and Planning
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
  • Must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

 

CACP Fellowship Award

  • Must be a degree-seeking graduate student in the UTSA College of Architecture, Construction and Planning
  • Must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours each semester
  • Must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

 

Intertech Flooring Endowed Travel Scholarship in Interior Design

  • Declared major in Interior Design
  • Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
  • Funds shall be used exclusively, biennially, to support the recipient’s participation in a national or international trade fair approved by the Interior Design faculty at UTSA. Donor’s preference is that the recipient travel to NeoCon Trade Fair in Chicago, permitting sufficient funding available.

 

Julius M. and Kathleen A. Gribou Endowed Scholarship

  • Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level (juniors and seniors only)
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Funds shall be used exclusively to support the recipient’s participation in a UTSA College of Architecture, Construction and Planning (CACP) foreign study program or to defray the costs of approved student travel outside of North America when such travel is associated with a project resulting in academic credit in the CACP

 

Rinaldo J. Gonzalez and Alicia C. Trevino Endowed Scholarship in Architecture

  • Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level
  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit hours each semester)
