This study investigates current and future housing demands to accommodate the workforce required for the oil and gas industries in six counties located in the Western-Eagle Ford Shale play (Dimmit, Frio, La Salle, Maverick, Webb, and Zavala). To estimate housing demand in the region several different research methods and analytical systems were employed to collect data from a broad spectrum of involved parties and data sets. Estimates of the total number of permanent and transient jobs added to the study area were based on current and projected rig and well counts. These counts were based on three scenarios of drilling activities: High, short-term, annual production (from 2010-2020); Low, long-term, annual production (from 2010-2025); and High, long-term, annual production (from 2010-2030).
