Hemisfair Park is located just south of central downtown San Antonio and was home to the 1968 World’s Fair. Unfortunately there are few attractions in the park that draw people through it and into the SouthTown arts district.
The proposed CPS Renewable Energy Museum would be located just south of the park and serve as a new tourist attraction as well as a link between two great entities of San Antonio, Hemisfair and SouthTown. The museum will house exhibits on many forms of renewable energy such as wind, sun, water, geothermal and biomass. The museum will also serve as a CPS service center and provide information about the company to further their public relations with the citizens of San Antonio. This museum is best characterized by the large solar panel array that covers and shades most of the site and supplies power for the building as well as the city grid.
