The Future Vision of the New UTSA College of Architecture Building
ARC 6996 Master’s Project, Spring 2010
Taeg Nishimoto Studio
The UTSA College of Architecture is one of the fastest growing Architecture programs in the nation. Each year of growth leads to a greater need for a larger, specialized building that will help facilitate flexibility and collaboration.
The proposed master’s project creates the new College of Architecture Building as an iconic building on the downtown UTSA Campus in order create a focal point and to alleviate the crowdedness within the existing, re-used office building that currently serves as home to the College of Architecture. The new proposed building respects the UTSA Master Plan while creating a unique structure that will bring attention to the UTSA College of Architecture and the downtown campus. The new College of Architecture Building will not only be a focal point of downtown but will also serve as a teaching tool through its learning labs, exposed structural elements, and sustainable systems.
