San Antonio Missions Preservation Workshop
On May 22-25, 2017, the UTSA Center for Cultural Sustainability will join the National Park Service and Los Compadres de San Antonio Missions in convening the second annual San Antonio Missions Preservation Workshop. Topics will include the history of Spanish colonial construction; methods of physical condition assessment; lime mortars, washes, renders and plasters; geology of stone types; and best practices for conservation treatments.
Last year’s event drew more than 50 participants from throughout Texas, three other states and at least one foreign country. The workshop — which will include hands-on activities — is open to graduate students from UTSA as well as other universities.
