Corporate Cup softball tournament recap
(September 10, 2017) -- The Associated General Contractors San Antonio Chapter hosted a softball tournament on September 9. The tournament was held at the UIW fields and consisted of companies in the construction industry and students from the UTSA Construction Science and Management program. Curve Compliance was kind enough to sponsor the UTSA team and company representative Fernando Figueroa attended the tournament to cheer us on. The UTSA team consisted of CSM students and we extended the invitation to CSM alumni to help us fill a couple open spots. Our team roster consisted of Kassandra Morales, Shane McCaffrey, Josh McMillan, Angela Castañon, Andy Torrez, Jeremy Charles, Devin Crayton, Samuel Escobar, Efrain Vasquez, Juan Carlos De La Garza, Jose Cantu and alums Alejandra Tamez and Roddy Reyna.
Teams that participated in the tournament were Southwest Electrical, Architectural Division 8, Absolute Resourcing, Knight Office Solutions, Turner Construction, TD Industries, Zachary Construction, Alterman, Inc., Joeris General Contractors, Guido Construction and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors. Our first game was 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 against Turner Construction. We took the field first and had to protect home plate, which we successfully did, coming out on top with a final score of 9-8.
After winning our next game wasn’t until 4 p.m. so we rested at our tailgate spot and mingled with other teams around us. Our 4 p.m. game was against Architectural Division 8. We didn’t win this game but had a great time. This was the first time many of us met each other and we did very well together as a team.
