CIAC begins preparation for fall semester meeting

(September 6, 2017) -- The Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) Executive Committee, led by CIAC President Wes Johnson, held a special meeting to plan future CIAC activities. The meeting was hosted by Steven Schultz at the ABC South Texas Chapter.  

CIAC Immediate Past President Kathleen Acock provided a very insightful background of the activities of the CIAC. Financial standing of the CIAC account was discussed as the Chair of the Budget Committee, Albert Gutierrez, begins in his committee role. Discussion centered on the importance of increasing industry financial support for the UTSA construction program. Creating a solid financial foundation through endowments to support students and faculty development was defined as the main goal in the current stage of the construction program at UTSA. CIAC Vice President Greg Wiatrek emphasized the importance of expanding CIAC membership perhaps by attracting more general contractors and sub-contractors to actively engage with the council.

Preparations for a regular meeting to be attended by all CIAC members began with tentative dates in late October and early November. A save the date notification will be sent to all CIAC members followed by additional meeting details.
