Wendell Davis, AICP is a planning consultant, real estate market analyst, demographer and land planner in practice as Wendell Davis & Associates. As President of SA Research Corporation for more than 30 years, his practice included real estate market research and feasibility analysis with a focus on the housing market and demographics for school districts and community college facilities master plans. He is also involved in database development, community indicators, geographic information systems and economic analysis. Davis has prepared land plans by the dozens and conducted, wrote or has been responsible for more than 100 real estate market reports, including studies of the market for affordable housing in San Antonio and the Housing Market Analysis for the San Antonio Housing Master Plan. Davis’ educational background includes the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics, from the University of Texas at Arlington and the Master of Community Planning (MCP) from the University of Rhode Island.
Davis co-founded the Regional Planning Foundation when long-time friend Frank Osgood wrote about his experiences as Chair of Southern California Region’s Technical Advisory Council. Osgood’s book: “Regions Aroused” is a fictionalized case study that “focuses on ways to make the regional planning process work better.” The Regional Planning Foundation has pursued a goal of applying or improving the regional planning process in every region in the U.S., primarily through education and regional citizen participation.
Davis is Chair of the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Center for Urban and Regional Planning Research Advisory Council. He was one of the founders of San Antonio Planning Advisors, which is a group of retired and nearly retired planners offering planning advice to communities and counties with no formal planning process in place. He served for 19 years on the board of directors of the Neighborhood Resource Center, a non-profit serving San Antonio neighborhoods.
