Shanon Miller, AICP, became the City of San Antonio Historic Preservation Officer in November 2008 and is responsible for directing the City’s historic preservation program. During her first year, the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) oversaw the preparation and subsequent adoption by City Council of the City’s first Strategic Historic Preservation Plan. The OHP also launched an extensive outreach and education program with the establishment of the Preservation Academy. Shanon currently serves as the Chair of the Preservation Action Foundation and the Vice-Chair of Preservation Action, the national grassroots lobbying organization for historic preservation. Ms. Miller has a Masters of Arts in Historic Preservation from Goucher College, a Masters of Public Service and Administration from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelors of Arts in History with minors in Economics and Art History from Western Kentucky University.
