Michael’s work as a designer has earned 30 local, regional and national awards. He has been the designer for higher education projects at Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, UTSA, Texas State University and Texas Tech. His work embraces every scale, from furniture to large scale institutional buildings. During his nine years with Ford, Powell & Carson he has been designer for the Northeast Lakeview College Fine Arts Building, Performing Arts Center and Career Technology building, and the City of San Antonio’s Public Safety Headquarters. He is also the designer of the Texas State University special collections at the Wittliff Gallery. His public service includes the Chairmanship of San Antonio’s Historic and Design Review Commission, Chairmanship of the National Trust’s Villa Finale Museum Advisory Council, San Antonio Museum of Art’s Visitors Committee and past Vice-Chairmanship of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Fine Arts Advisory Council where he is also a life member. He is an adjunct professor of advanced design in the graduate school of the University of Texas at San Antonio’s College of Architecture, Construction and Planning. He has been field architect for the University of Texas archaeological excavations at Metaponto, Italy, and Harvard’s Fogg Museum expedition at Sardis, Turkey. His archaeological illustrations appear in publications of the University of Texas and University of Michigan Presses, and the British Museum Press.
