An architect and planner, Christine Viña has served VIA Metropolitan Transit in the role of Urban Design Project Manager since 2008, focusing on the Joint Development and Art in Transit programs, strategic planning initiatives, and infrastructure and building design review. Prior to VIA, she was the TOD Principal Planner for Capital Metro, and a Special Projects planner with the City of San Antonio Planning Department, working on inner-city neighborhood plans, writing Design Standards for Neighborhood Conservation Districts, and providing design review. She moved to San Antonio over twenty years ago to serve as the Executive Director of the Southtown Mainstreet program. In addition to her time as a URP Advisory Council Member, she spends her volunteer time advocating for, and assisting neighborhood residents with, quality urban and real estate development and infrastructure, and is a founding member of the upstart public policy non-profit imagineSanAntonio. She served as the 2016 President of AIA San Antonio, and continues to volunteer with AIASA and District 1, with educational tools to help implement SA Tomorrow and the nexus between transportation and land use.
